Dr Robert McLaren is a co-founder of Mass Appraisal Consultants and has proven himself to be one of the most significant surveillance monitors, data collectors and property value analysts in KwaZulu-Natal.
His personal studies of the smaller municipalities, most notably uMngeni, have resulted in practical working models that ensure thoroughness, fairness and equity in the valuation roll process.
He has personally examined almost every property in his study areas, resulting in the formulation of a system of examination and documentation invaluable to the professional valuer relying on mass appraisal techniques.
Dr McLaren is one of a handful of people in South Africa who have successfully tested and challenged local government implementation of the Municipal Property Rates Act. His actions have resulted in considerable benefits to individual property owners and municipal revenue streams alike. This often under trying conditions and against considerable resistance to change.
Dr McLaren, has voluntarily, without seeking reward or favour, put forward countless adjustments to property valuations, resulting in many millions of Rands becoming available to cash-strapped municipalities as well as benefiting private property owners.

Chris Scotcher is a co-founder of Mass Appraisal Consultants and is the IT brains behind the business.
His skills lie in using IT to expedite and implement collection as well as the collation of data which is required for the calculation of values of residential properties for Municipal Valuation Rolls.
Chris has been involved in assisting with the residential component of several Municipal Valuation Rolls. He brings invaluable experience and knowledge to the business and is able to determine values of a high standard and which are also accurate, equitable and justified.
His skills, enthusiasm and ambition are a considerable asset and are of great benefit to Valuers in the municipal valuation environment.
